Seasons Greetings

I know I haven’t been around a whole lot recently, but that will definitely be changing! For this card, I decided to use less-than-traditional holiday colors.

CCREW0612CF: June Creative Crew Challenge, Catalog Focus

For June, the second Creative Crew Challenge was a Catalog Focus challenge. The challenge rules said to “use one ‘new’ item in combination with one ‘old’ item. [Not] ‘old’ as in age or vintage…something that has been in catalog for a while.”

Once again, I used Primrose Petals, this time as my “something new,” along with the sentiment from  Sweet Essentials. For the “something old,” I used the Create A Cupcake stamp set and the Cupcake Punch. As someone pointed out, it also has something borrowed (the stamp & punch) and something blue! 🙂 Hope you like it!

CCREW0612DF: June Creative Crew Challenge, Color Focus

Each month, the Creative Crew on Split Coast Stampers (SCS) hosts four challenges for SU! Demonstrators. For June, the first was a Color Focus challenge. The challenge rules said to “use just three colors: Basic Gray, White, and one new In Color. You can pick any new color you want, but your project can only have three colors, no more, no less.”

Like yesterday’s project, I used Primrose Petals as my one new In Color; it seems to be one of my go-to colors at this point 🙂 Hope you like it!

happy day to you

CFC58: Pretty In Pink

If you’ve looked at any of the previous cards I’ve posted here, or anywhere for that matter, you’ll notice that my style tends to lean towards “Clean and Simple” (CAS). Well, I recently found a blog of weekly challenges called CAS-ual Fridays and I’m really excited to post my very first entry! This week’s challenge was to make a CAS card using pink. I used one of the new SU! 2012-14 In Colors, Primrose Petals, as my pink of choice. I hope you all like it!

Cheers!

sept 12 challenge blog

This week’s challenge was created by Tobey; here’s what she’s posted:

“use ribbon on your project, it can be as little or as much as you like, any kind of ribbon. You don’t need to use a muse|studio products to enter or to win…but if you have them, why not show them off?”

I created the card below for a Fall card swap:

The card measures 4.25″ wide and 5.5″ tall (1/2 of a letter size piece of paper, folded in half – standard size A2.)  Here’s the recipe:

  • Cardstock: wasabi* (card base), vanilla (square and sentiment)
  • Ink: some shade of brown – I think it was one of the shimmery Brillance Dew Drops^ (I can’t remember and I forgot to write it down!)
  • Stamps: Essential Sentiments (sentiment), Bounty of the Season* (wheat)
  • Accessories: glue dots, latte pearls (very small), orange satin ribbon
All supplies are a*muse studio unless otherwise indicated with ^ (holiday catalog items marked with *) and are available through my webstore. Remember, if you want to place an order of $150 or more, contact me so you can receive free product! Also, through Sept 30 there are bonus hostess rewards and an exclusive stamp set, so call or email me (pinkgeekstamper_at_gmail_dot_com) to schedule your class.

my week at the a*muse studio challenge blog

This week’s a*muse studio challenge (it was by me this week!) was for dimension. Anything that makes your card not flat qualifies 🙂

I’ve been using 3D adhesive/pop dots on a lot of my cards recently, so it only made sense that it would be on this one too. I also wanted to try something new, so I added Diamond Glaze to the mix.

I made a mini Halloween card with some glazed candy corn. I’m still learning the best technique with the glaze – you can see there are some bubbles on there. Since candy corn isn’t perfect in real life, I figured it was ok 🙂

and a side view:

The card measures 2 1/8″ x 2 1/8″ (a standard A2 card cut in half and then squared.) Here’s the recipe:

  • Cardstock: slate (card base), pumpkin (large square), sugar (small square & cutout)
  • Momento black
  • Copic markers: YR68^ and Y17 (optional: black to color the edges of the cutout)
  • Stamps: too cute to spook* (candy corn & sentiment)
  • Accessories: 3D foam adhesive, glue dots, Diamond Glaze^ (similar to Crystal Clear Glaze carried by a|s)
All supplies are a*muse studio unless otherwise indicated with ^ (holiday catalog items marked with *) and are available through my webstore. A-MUSE-A-PALOOZA Challenge #2

You know how sometimes you make something and you are super happy with how it turns out? That’s exactly how I felt when I was done with this card. I made it for a fall card  swap I participated in, and it happens to work out that this week’s challenge for AP is Halloween colors!

The card measures 4.25″ wide and 5.5″ tall (1/2 of a letter size piece of paper, folded in half.) Here’s the recipe list:

  • Cardstock: Onyx (card base), pumpkin (sentiment), pebble* (fence), vellum (fence and clouds – Paper Studio)
  • Ink: latte, wasabi* (tree), lemon whip (moon), french roast (sentiment)
  • Stamps: spooky boo day *(tree & moon) essential sentiments (sentiment)
  • Accessories/Tools: cloud duo die, bat trio die*, fence die*, onyx glitter, tombow mono aqua adhesive, 3D foam adhesive, glue dots, glue pen, stamp-a-ma-jig
Techniques:
  • The tree was stamped first in latte ink, then in wasabi right on top of the first image. This gave the color/effect I was looking for. I used the stamp-a-ma-jig to ensure that I got them exactly in the same spot.
  • Gluing down vellum on dark paper seems to be an effort in frustration for me. I used the glue pen to attach the clouds to the card. I originally planned on trying to find a different way to do it, but I liked the effect I got. Initially, I also used the glue pen to glue the vellum layer to the pebble layer of the fence and to adhere the fence to the card, but for additional copies of the card I ran it through my Xyron.
  • The Tombow mono aqua liquid glue gave the best results for covering the bats with the glitter.
Here’s a closeup of the bat and fence. I glued the vellum to the fence at a slight offset to try to give it a little dimension/shadow look:
All supplies are a*muse studio unless otherwise indicated (holiday catalog items marked with *) and are available through my webstore. Remember, if you want to place an order of $150 or more, contact me so you can receive free product! Also, through Sept 30 there are bonus hostess rewards and an exclusive stamp set, so call or email me (pinkgeekstamper_at_gmail_dot_com) to schedule your class.
I hope you enjoy the card as much as I do. If you are trying to make it yourself and something above isn’t clear, feel free to ask and I’ll help where I can.
